Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says that Paul Pogba is motivated to succeed at Manchester United after missing a large portion of the season through injury.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer acknowledges that Paul Pogba has a point to prove after spending much of the season on the sidelines.

On Friday night, Pogba came off the substitutes' bench to make just his ninth appearance, earning the penalty which ensured that United secured a 1-1 draw at Tottenham Hotspur.

Although there remains frequent speculation regarding the World Cup winner's future, Solskjaer admits that the Frenchman is eager to "make up for lost time".

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Solskjaer said: "It is great to see him show his qualities and the contribution he made was big in us getting a penalty.

"He has had horrific, injury-hit season and he is desperate to make up for lost time. Paul has always wanted to play. He loves football.

"It has been great having him back training with us. On and off the pitch, he is such an enthusiastic and passionate boy. Everyone can see the quality he can provide.

"Paul always has a point to prove to himself and to us. He expects a lot from himself and wants to be the best. He trains hard and loves football."

Pogba will hope to earn a place in the starting lineup when United host Sheffield United on Wednesday evening.
