Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says that Scott McTominay is likely to be on the sidelines for the next "three or four weeks" with a knee injury.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Scott McTominay is likely to be on the sidelines for the next "three or four weeks" with a knee problem.

The Scotland international was replaced during Thursday's clash against Newcastle United after picking up an injury and was not involved in the 2-0 win over Burnley on Saturday night.

After the clash at Turf Moor, Solskjaer conceded that the 23-year-old, who has been a key player for the Red Devils during the 2019-20 campaign, is due to spend a period on the sidelines.

"I wouldn't expect him to be back within a few weeks. I don't think we'll see him, it'll be more than that. But he's always proved before if you give him three weeks he's back in two," the Manchester Evening News quotes Solskjaer as saying.

"But I don't know if it's three or four weeks. It might be something like this. We just gotta find a way through it."

Paul Pogba also missed out against Burnley due to fatigue, meaning that Nemanja Matic was handed a rare start in the middle of the park alongside Fred.

The two-goal success against Sean Dyche's side moved United into fifth position in the Premier League table, just one point off fourth-placed Chelsea, who visit Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
