Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly wants Dean Henderson to challenge David de Gea for the keeper's jersey next season.
The Spaniard has been the United number one more or less since he joined the club in 2011, and he has remained their first choice during the current campaign despite his poor form and a couple of high profile blunders.
Henderson, by contrast, has continually impressed on loan at Sheffield United over the last 18 months and has conceded fewer goals in the Premier League this season than De Gea.
According to The Athletic, Henderson's performances have led Solskjaer,to decide to keep him at the club next season and let him compete for the starting goalkeeper's position as he believes this will help the Spaniard regain his best form.
United have also made changed their goalkeeping coach in recent weeks, with Craig Mawson replacing Emiliano Alvarez, as they look to get the former Atletico Madrid shotstopper back to the level many fans had become accustomed to.
