Bayern Munich head coach Thomas Tuchel is reportedly determined to return to the Premier League this summer, which has placed Manchester United on red alert.
Tuchel has been unable to lead Bayern to this season's Bundesliga title, with Bayer Leverkusen already securing the crown, and the Munich outfit are instead locked in a battle with Stuttgart and RB Leipzig for second.
The 50-year-old could lead Die Bayern to the 2023-24 Champions League title, though, with the team currently level at 2-2 with Real Madrid in their semi-final ahead of the second leg in Spain next week.
Tuchel's departure from the Allianz Arena has already been confirmed, and the German will leave at the end of the season even if he is able to secure the European Cup.
According to The Mirror, Tuchel is determined to return to England this summer, and Man United are emerging as genuine suitors amid the uncertainty surrounding Erik ten Hag's future at the helm.
Thomas Tuchel could replace Erik ten Hag at Man United
Ten Hag has led Man United to another cup final this season, with the Red Devils preparing to face Manchester City in the FA Cup final at the end of this month.
However, the 20-time English champions are down in sixth position in the Premier League table and can no longer qualify for next season's Champions League.
As it stands, the club are believed to be preparing for next season with Ten Hag, but more poor performances in the latter stages of this season could force their hand.
New minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe is believed to view England head coach Gareth Southgate and former Chelsea boss Graham Potter as contenders to replace Ten Hag, should a change be made.
However, the speculation linking Tuchel with a move to Old Trafford is gathering pace, with the German a proven performer at the top level on a consistent basis.
Would Thomas Tuchel be a good appointment for Man United?
Tuchel has won silverware with four of the five senior teams that he has managed, securing the German Cup at Borussia Dortmund before lifting six trophies at Paris Saint-Germain, including two Ligue 1 titles.
He famously won the Champions League at Chelsea in 2020-21, in addition to the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup, before leading Bayern to last season's Bundesliga title.
Tuchel's win record at Chelsea was actually 60%, triumphing in 60 of his 100 matches, and it was a surprise when the Blues sacked him in September 2022 after less than two years at the helm.
Tuchel is a proven winner, and there is no question that he would have respect in the Man United dressing room considering his achievements in the game.
Moves for either Southgate or Potter would be risky, and while Tuchel does not guarantee success, he seems the perfect fit for Man United at this moment in time, should the club decide to move in a different direction.
