Arsenal legend Tony Adams has revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson tried to sign him twice during his time in charge of Manchester United.
The former England defender spent 22 years with the Gunners, making 669 appearances and lifting 10 major trophies.
Adams has said that he had the opportunity to join United but turned them down on two occasions.
"Alex Ferguson wanted to sign me twice, just before Arsene Wenger came to the club," the 48-year-old told Inside Futbol. "I was ready for a change and he was onto me every day.
"The chairman at the time, Peter Hill-Wood, convinced me that there was a good man on the way and that we were going to be ambitious financially.
"I found my salary tripled, which was amazing. Arsene came and the rest is history."
Adams captained Arsenal for 14 years.
