Certain members of the Manchester United squad were reportedly already aware of the club's intentions to sack manager David Moyes before the latest rumours broke in the media.
Widespread reports surfaced on Monday, claiming that the club's owners, the Glazer family, were preparing to relieve the Scot of his duties after enduring a miserable campaign.
However, according to The Mirror, some players knew that the former Everton manager was in line for the axe before Sunday's 2-1 defeat to the Blues at Goodison Park.
The champions are currently seventh in the table, and have lost 11 games this term – their most ever in the Premier League era.
Moyes officially remains in charge at Old Trafford, but an announcement is reported to be imminent on Tuesday.
