Louis van Gaal praised his Manchester United players after they beat Leicester City 3-1 in the Premier League on Saturday.
United raced into a three-goal lead by half time, and, while Van Gaal was disappointed not to score more after the restart, he was pleased with his side's efforts.
He told Sky Sports News: "I am very happy because of the positive result, we lost the last home match [against Southampton] so we have to show to our fans that we are coming back.
"We scored three goals in the first half and I told them at half time they had to kill the game and I think we played backwards too much in the second half. We should have scored two or three more.
"We conceded a goal and that was disappointing because we were the dominant team in the second half also. I have complimented my team because they have been very disciplined today. The balance was okay today."
United are currently third in the Premier League, although fourth-placed Southampton have a game in hand.
