Louis van Gaal has said that he expects Ryan Giggs to be Manchester United's next manager once his spell in charge of the club comes to an end.
The Dutchman, who appointed the club's all-time appearance-maker as his assistant after taking up the post last summer, has a contract to keep him at Old Trafford until the end of the 2016-17 season.
The 63-year-old, who has previously indicated that this will be his last job in football management, told MUTV: "I expect that he will be the next manager after I am gone.
"Now I have the responsibility. He has tasks that he has to perform like the players. What he has to do, for me, he does it very well."
Giggs took charge of the side on an interim basis at the end of last season following David Moyes's dismissal.
