Robin van Persie has credited David de Gea and Michael Carrick for the roles that they played in Manchester United's 3-0 victory over Liverpool at Old Trafford this afternoon.
Goalkeeper De Gea kept out all eight of the away side's shots on target, while midfielder Carrick slotted in as part of a three-man defensive unit.
Speaking after the match, Van Persie, who scored United's third goal, was full of praise for the duo.
"Again, David was outstanding. He was brilliant. It's not often a team wins 3-0 and the goalkeeper is man of the match," he told Sky Sports News.
"I think Michael Carrick made the difference today, he is so confident on the ball. All of the defenders were calm."
The win has kept the Red Devils third in the Premier League table, 10 points above Liverpool.
