Villas-Boas still bemoans penalty decisions

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has once again criticised Howard Webb's decision to award two penalties in his side's 3-3 draw with Manchester United last weekend.

Villas-Boas believes that there are now double standards when it comes to simulation, arguing that some players are regarded as cheats while others are referred to as smart.

The Chelsea boss in particular mentioned the penalty conceded by Branislav Ivanovic after Danny Welbeck appeared to leave his leg out in order to get purposefully tripped.

"In the end it is the player who proves his smartness. Some are called cheats and divers, others are clever and smart for making the most of the situation, depending on your perspective," said the 34-year-old manager.

"These are situations that happen in the games. The referee has to have the correct focus, the correct view.

"Ivanovic made the right decision. He was inside the box. was doing everything in his power to avoid contact and Welbeck sticks his leg out to find Ivanovic's leg and the ref gives a penalty for that?"

Villas-Boas recently argued that referees should face punishment if their performances are not up to scratch.
