Wayne Rooney will allegedly be stripped of the England captaincy after drinking into the night in the wake of the Three Lions' 3-0 win over Scotland.
Gareth Southgate is expected to be named as national team manager on a permanent basis this month and he plans to remove the armband from the Manchester United striker, according to The Sun.
The FA is said to be investigating claims that Rooney defied Southgate's orders to turn in for the evening in favour of boozing until the early hours of the morning.
The probe will also look into the role of members of FA staff in the incident as well as investigate reports that other England players visited various London nightclubs after the game.
Reports suggest that Rooney could be benched for United's showdown with Arsenal this weekend, while he faces a similarly uncertain future with the England team.
