Manchester United are reportedly planning to be 'patient' with Chido Obi Martin following his arrival at Old Trafford.
The 16-year-old decided against signing a new contract with Arsenal over the summer, and Man United were able to beat a host of clubs to his signature, although the move to the Red Devils has only just been confirmed.
The complex nature of the move between two Category One academies meant that Obi Martin had to be patient, but he confirmed last week that a switch to the 20-time English champions had been completed.
Obi Martin had a staggering 2023-24 campaign for Arsenal Under-18s, scoring 32 goals in 18 appearances, including 28 goals in his final nine appearances of the season.
The forward also hit the headlines when he scored 10 times for Arsenal Under-16s against Liverpool Under-16s last November, and he had been involved in first-team training sessions for Arsenal.
Man United 'will be patient' with Obi Martin
Arsenal did their best to convince Obi Martin to sign a new contract, but the Denmark Under-18s international allegedly did not see a clear route to the first team at the Emirates Stadium.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Man United are in no rush with Obi Martin due to the fact that the youngster missed pre-season amid the uncertainty surrounding his future.
The report claims that the forward is essentially now going through a pre-season, meaning that it could be a few weeks before he makes his first appearance for the club's Under-18s.
The English giants also allegedly believe that the youngster needs to be given time to 'settle into his new environment' before he pulls on the famous strip for the first time.
Obi Martin debuted for Arsenal Under-21s at the age of 15, and in his final appearance for Arsenal Under-18s, he scored three times in a 5-2 success for the Gunners over Chelsea under-18s.
Man United Under-18s are currently second in the Under-18s Premier League North division, winning all five of their matches, scoring 22 times and conceding just once in the process. body check tags ::
