Southampton captain Maya Yoshida has heaped praise on his side's reaction to their recent drubbing at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur during this evening's goalless draw with Manchester United.
The Saints held Jose Mourinho's side to a stalemate at Old Trafford just four days after being on the wrong end of a 5-2 thrashing against Spurs.
The draw is enough to keep Southampton two points clear of the relegation zone, and Yoshida believes that it could prove to be a vital one in the context of their season.
"It was a really important point for us, especially after a really sobering few games," Yoshida told reporters.
"The reaction from the players was great, we're really happy with that. We showed good spirit today, and now we move onto the next game."
Despite the positive nature of the result, Southampton are still without a win in their last seven Premier League outings.
