Everton manager Roberto Martinez, who played for the Swans, took charge of a Premier League game for the 200th time.

The red card handed to Jonjo Shelvey was the second that the 22-year-old has received during his career.

Hull City 0-1 Southampton

Ronald Koeman's Saints have now won seven of their last eight Premier League matches.

The clean sheet was the sixth that Southampton have kept in 10 outings.

The victory was City's fourth over United in a row. The last time they achieved such a feat was back in 1970.

The home side's match winner - Sergio Aguero - scored his 10th Premier League goal in as many matches this term.

Chris Smalling became the fifth United player to be red-carded in 2014 - no team has received more.
