The Premier League's last remaining perfect record ended this weekend as Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, although the Reds do still sit joint-top of the table alongside champions Manchester City.
City's routine win over Brighton & Hove Albion means that they lead the way on goal difference as one of three teams still unbeaten - along with Liverpool and Chelsea - but their local rivals Manchester United have already lost three times this season.
Jose Mourinho's side slumped to a 3-1 defeat at West Ham United to pile further pressure on the Portuguese boss - a result compounded by 2-0 wins later in the day for both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal against Huddersfield Town and Watford respectively.
Huddersfield remain one of three teams still without a win this season, joined by Newcastle United - who lost to Leicester City - and Cardiff City, who were beaten at home by Burnley.
Cardiff's fellow promoted sides had mixed fortunes as Wolverhampton Wanderers beat Southampton 2-0 - and are the best-represented club in this week's team as a result - whereas Fulham lost 3-0 to Everton at Goodison Park.
Bournemouth then rounded off the gameweek with a late victory over Crystal Palace on Monday night to maintain their impressive home for this season.
Here, Sports Mole picks out its best team of the week from the latest round of Premier League fixtures.
The first of the Wolves trio to earn a place in our side is Rui Patricio, who made six saves en route to a clean sheet against Southampton on Saturday. Stand-in Spurs keeper Paulo Gazzaniga deserves a mention, while Alisson Becker made a couple of crucial saves for Liverpool, although questions were raised over his role in Chelsea's goal at Stamford Bridge.
Patricio is joined in the team by clubmates Matt Doherty and Jonny Castro on either flank. Doherty continued his fine recent form to see off competition from Pablo Zabaleta and Kieran Trippier, providing the assist for fellow full-back Jonny's goal. Oleksandr Zinchenko and Danny Rose also get an honourable mention at left-back.
One of the standout performers of the weekend was Leicester's Harry Maguire, who put in a towering performance at both ends of the field. The England World Cup hero won a penalty for his side, scored, registered a clean sheet, won a game-high six aerial duels and also had more shots than any other player on the pitch.
David Luiz sits alongside him having largely kept Liverpool's attacking trio quiet at Stamford Bridge, making more interceptions and blocks than any other Chelsea player to earn his selection ahead of teammate Antonio Rudiger, as well as Rob Holding and Davinson Sanchez.
It would be remiss to omit any West Ham players from the team following their performance against Manchester United, and while Felipe Anderson and Marko Arnautovic don't quite make the cut further forward, captain Mark Noble does having provided more passes than any other West Ham player - including the one which set up Arnautovic for the goal which killed off Man Utd's comeback.
Arguably the performance of the weekend came from Everton's Gylfi Sigurdsson, who bounced back from rattling the crossbar with a penalty to score two goals and create five more chances for his teammates - the most of any Everton player. Teammate Idrissa Gueye is unfortunate to miss out on the team, meanwhile, having made no fewer than nine tackles to help keep Fulham at bay.
Leicester's James Maddison continues to impress and picked up an assist against Newcastle to beat the likes of David Silva, Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Callum Paterson into the final midfield slot.
Paterson was not the only Cardiff player to come close to a place in the team despite their defeat, with Josh Murphy also impressing with a goal and a shot which hit the woodwork. However, Murphy - like West Ham's Anderson - misses out to Chelsea's Eden Hazard, who backed up his stunner in midweek with another goal against Liverpool in addition to creating a team-high three chances.
Raheem Sterling also impressed once again with a goal and an assist in Man City's 2-0 win over Brighton - not to mention a 99% pass accuracy - and he is joined in the front three by compatriot Harry Kane, who now looks back to his best following his brace against Huddersfield.
Remarkably Kane is now the leading all-time Premier League scorer at the John Smith's Stadium - including Huddersfield players - with his two goals enough to earn a place in the side ahead of Arnautovic and Sergio Aguero.
