Another goal-laden weekend of Premier League action is done and dusted, with Arsenal somehow still five points clear at the top of the rankings after an enthralling 3-2 comeback win over Bournemouth.

Manchester City had briefly cut the gap down to two points by overcoming Newcastle United 2-0, while Manchester United are still sitting pretty in third despite being embarrassed 7-0 by Liverpool in what was their worst-ever Premier League defeat.

Tottenham Hotspur's Champions League hopes suffered another damaging blow in a 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers, but Chelsea claimed a much-needed three points against Leeds courtesy of a 1-0 triumph.

Monday's offering saw Brentford edge a five-goal thriller with West London rivals Fulham 3-2, but fellow capital outfit West Ham United were humbled 4-0 by Brighton & Hove Albion.

Elsewhere, Aston Villa ran out 1-0 winners over Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Everton shared the spoils in a 2-2 stalemate, and Leicester City's trip to Southampton ended in a 1-0 loss.

Here, Sports Mole selects its Premier League Team of the Week for the latest round of fixtures.

DEFENCE

While most of the plaudits understandably went to Adama Traore and his eye-catching winner, Wolves would not have kept Tottenham at bay without the efforts of Jose Sa, who contributed six saves and three high claims to a hard-earned clean sheet.

Unlike Wolves, Aston Villa needed a large slice of luck for their slender one-goal success versus Crystal Palace, but Matty Cash was the chief architect - providing the cross which Joachim Andersen turned into his own net - while he also made five tackles and completed three of his four dribble attempts in a stellar all-around display.

Brentford's 3-2 success over Fulham was far more comfortable than the scoreline would have us believe, thanks in no small part to the efforts of Ethan Pinnock, who broke the deadlock with a deflected effort off Tim Ream while also making four tackles and winning five of his six aerial duels for the buzzing Bees.

Potentially buying his under-fire manager a few more days in the hotseat, the returning Wesley Fofana will hope that his man-of-the-match display versus Leeds acts as the catalyst to kickstart his injury-disrupted Blues career, with the Frenchman rising highest to head home the game's only goal and winning all five of his aerial duels, as well as completing 96% of his passes on the day.

One of many Liverpool players who will be residing in Red Devils' nightmares for weeks to come, Andrew Robertson was back to his best in the seven-goal demolition job at Anfield, providing an inch-perfect pass for Cody Gakpo to open the scoring - one of three chances he created during a historic Merseyside triumph.

MIDFIELD

A combination of injuries and competition for places in Mikel Arteta's attacking ranks has hampered Reiss Nelson's development, but the Arsenal man will go down in Gunners folklore for sparking one of the wildest scenes the Emirates will ever see. Coming off the bench to great effect once more, Nelson set up Ben White's equaliser against Bournemouth before finding the far corner with just seconds remaining to keep Arsenal firmly in control of their title destiny.

Prior to Nelson's last-gasp winner, Bournemouth very nearly made their own Premier League history just nine seconds after kickoff, as Philip Billing finished off an explosive kickoff routine to score the second-quickest goal that the competition has ever seen, while he also made four clearances, three tackles and two interceptions - ultimately to no avail.

In contrast, the efforts of Alexis Mac Allister would be rewarded and then some against West Ham. As speculation surrounding his future continues to rage, the Argentine World Cup winner converted a postage-stamp penalty before his smart header to the back post found Joel Veltman to add to the Seagulls' advantage.

There was many a haunting image for the travelling Man United faithful at Anfield, but witnessing Cody Gakpo produce the goods against the club he almost signed for surely takes the biscuit. After curling home the opening goal, the Dutchman deftly chipped David de Gea from a tight angle to double his tally, as Erik ten Hag was left to rue what could have been.

ATTACK

The temptation to select all three members of Liverpool's frontline was real, but Darwin Nunez must accept a spot on the bench this week thanks to the efforts of Brennan Johnson, who slotted home at the back post against Everton before coolly finding the top corner to keep Nottingham Forest's striking unbeaten home run going.

However, there was no ignoring Liverpool's highest Premier League goalscorer of all time, who demonstrated his penchant for playmaking as well as his timeless ruthlessness. From crashing home his record-equalling goal before reacting quickest to rack up an all-time high of 129 Premier League goals for Liverpool - surpassing Robbie Fowler - Mohamed Salah also set up Gakpo and Roberto Firmino, rolling back the years as the Red Devils rolled over.
