Manchester United extend their unbeaten away record to seven games as Daley Blind rescues a late point against West Ham United.

West Ham United were denied a first league win against Manchester United in over seven years as Daley Blind rescued a point for the visitors in stoppage time at Upton Park.

Chances were few and far between in the opening period, especially for the visitors, as West Ham United started far livelier.

The two clearest openings in the first 45 fell to West Ham players, but both Enner Valencia and James Tomkins were denied by David de Gea's instinctive limbs.

De Gea's opposite number Adrian was called into action shortly before the break, comfortably clutching Angel Di Maria's fierce drive.

West Ham looked extremely dangerous from set pieces in the first half and that was where the opening goal came from less than four minutes into the second period.

Mark Noble's inswinging free kick bobbled up for Cheikhou Kouyate and the midfielder showed great composure by juggling the ball in a crowd of players before pinging home a volley that deflected off Blind and past De Gea.

Despite barely threatening for the opening 50 minutes, Man Utd responded well to going behind, with strike duo Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie both going close soon after Kouyate's goal.

Carl Jenkinson went close to doubling West Ham's lead in fluky fashion when his cross from the right cleared his intended targets and dipped just wide of the far post with De Gea only able to watch it soar over his head.

Unsurprisingly, Man Utd pushed hard for an equaliser in the closing 15 minutes and Falcao and substitute Marouane Fellaini were guilty of failing to find the target.

Van Persie did fire a shot between the sticks in the 83rd minute, but his effort from a narrow angle was kept out by Adrian's right foot.

With the visitors piling bodies forward, West Ham could have put the game to bed, with Noble denied by De Gea before substitute Matt Jarvis headed over with the Spanish keeper out of position.

The hosts were then cruelly denied three points in the second minute of added time when Blind picked out the corner with a first-time finish as West Ham failed to clear their lines.

There was to be further drama in the final seconds as visiting left-back Luke Shaw was sent off for two bookable offences - he will now miss Wednesday's match at home to Burnley.

Man Utd extend their unbeaten away league run to seven games, staying fourth in the table, while West Ham miss out on the chance to climb above Liverpool. They stay seven points behind the Champions League spots in eighth.
