Pep Guardiola: 'Premier League title race is not over yet'

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola tells his players to ignore Jose Mourinho, who claims that the Premier League title race is already over.

Pep Guardiola has refuted suggestions from Jose Mourinho that Manchester United have little hope of catching Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

The Citizens' gap on their closest challengers was restored to 15 points in midweek following a straightforward 3-0 win over West Bromwich Albion, on the same night that United lost 2-0 at Tottenham Hotspur.

Mourinho praised Man City for their consistency at his weekly press conference on Friday afternoon and suggested that finishing second is now the best any of the other challengers can hope for.

However, asked about the Portuguese's comments at his own presser ahead of this weekend's meeting with Burnley, Guardiola responded by saying that it is still all to play for.

"There are 13 games, 39 points to play for. We have [a lead of] 15. It's not over," he said. "We have amazing, tough games to play, for example tomorrow. We cannot deny how complicated it is playing at Burnley.

"After that we have to go to Stoke City, Goodison Park, we have games against Arsenal, Tottenham, United, Chelsea. Definitely it's not over."

City have dropped points in their last two away games, against Crystal Palace and Liverpool, having won their previous 10 this season.
