Ousmane Dembele is reportedly no closer to agreeing a new contract at Barcelona, with the France international seemingly set to leave Camp Nou on a free transfer at the end of June.
The 25-year-old made 32 appearances at club level during the 2021-22 campaign, contributing two goals and 13 assists in the process.
Dembele's contract with the Catalan giants is due to expire at the end of next month, and he will leave as a free agent unless Xavi's side can sign him to an extension in the coming weeks.
The World Cup winner has had a number of injury problems during his time at Camp Nou would certainly be an attractive proposition for a number of top-level clubs ahead of next season.
With that in mind, Sports Mole picks out the five clubs that could compete for his signature this summer.
Paris Saint-Germain
There have recently been suggestions that Paris Saint-Germain have cooled their interest in the Frenchman due to his injury problems, but it would certainly not be a surprise to see him move to Paris.
Kylian Mbappe has signed a new contract in the French capital, but there is uncertainty surrounding Neymar's future, while it is difficult to imagine Lionel Messi spending more than a couple more years at the club.
PSG certainly have the financial power to offer Dembele a large contract, and the chance to return to France would surely be appealing to the attacker, but at least three Premier League clubs are allegedly determined to tempt him to England on a free transfer.
Chelsea
Chelsea were strongly linked with Dembele in January, but the attacker ultimately remained at Barcelona and was able to work his way back into the side under Xavi.
The Blues could overhaul their attack this summer, with Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech all being linked with moves away over the last few months.
Dembele is believed to be interested in making the move to the Premier League this summer, and London as a destination might appeal more to the attacker than Manchester or Liverpool.
Liverpool
Fresh from their Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid, Liverpool will already have turned their attention to this summer's transfer window.
Sadio Mane has allegedly informed the club that he wishes to seek pastures new in the upcoming market, which could force the Merseyside giants to sign another attacker despite bringing Luis Diaz to Anfield in January.
Liverpool have allegedly already been in touch with Dembele's representatives to discuss a possible move to the club, and the Reds would be able to offer him the chance to challenge for major silverware, but it remains to be seen whether they would be prepared to match his salary demands.
Manchester United
Manchester United will boost their attack this summer following the departure of Edinson Cavani, while Anthony Martial could also move on during this summer's transfer window.
Like Chelsea, the Red Devils were linked with Dembele in January, and it would certainly not be a shock to see the club make an attempt to bring the Barcelona attacker to Old Trafford.
Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford struggled to contribute in the wide areas last term, and with new Man United head coach Erik ten Hag said to be keen to sign a wide forward, a move for the Rennes youngster makes sense, but his financial demands are said to be enormous.
Newcastle United
Newcastle United's recent takeover has made them one of the wealthiest clubs on the planet, and the Magpies could attempt to make a huge statement this summer by moving for Dembele.
Whether the Frenchman would be interested in joining a club not currently able to offer European football remains to be seen, but he could demand a huge salary and substantial signing-on fee from Eddie Howe's side.
Newcastle would have to work extremely hard to convince Dembele to join the club, but it is certainly not impossible to imagine him at St James' Park, as the Magpies have ambitions to soon be challenging for a Champions League position on a regular basis. body check tags ::
