Roma are reportedly set to complete the signing of Georginio Wijnaldum from Paris Saint-Germain on loan with an option to buy.
The Netherlands international struggled to show his best form for Les Parisiens during his debut season and has now been pushed down the pecking order by new signing Vitinha.
A return to the Premier League was unsurprisingly mooted for Wijnaldum, but according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, a switch to Roma is now on the verge of completion.
Wijnaldum will supposedly be taking a major hit on his salary to link up with Jose Mourinho's squad, but football advisor Luis Campos is keen to offload the Dutchman.
Wijnaldum signed a three-year deal upon his arrival at the Parc des Princes last summer but was left out of Christophe Galtier's squad for their pre-season tour of Japan.
Over at Old Trafford, Manchester United centre-back Eric Bailly is widely expected to depart the club this summer, but where he ends up for the 2022-23 season is still up for debate.
Roma boss Mourinho is also thought to be keen to reunite with the Ivory Coast international, who made just seven appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils last season.
However, The Sun reports that Bailly instead favours a move to Sevilla, who have lost both Jules Kounde and Diego Carlos to Barcelona and Aston Villa respectively this summer.
The report adds that Bailly initially wanted to fight for his spot under Erik ten Hag but is now open to leaving after it became clear that he was not in the Dutchman's plans.
AC Milan and Fulham have also been linked with a move for the 28-year-old, who started just three Premier League matches for Man United last season.
Back in Paris, Wijnaldum is not the only former Premier League midfielder who is seemingly set to depart the French champions, with Idrissa Gueye also on the chopping block.
With Galtier trialling a new 3-4-1-2 formation, Gueye's opportunities for starts over Vitinha, Marco Verratti and potential new signing Renato Sanches will be limited next term.
The 32-year-old previously recorded four goals and five assists in 107 games for Everton between 2016 and 2019, and he has been strongly linked with a return to Goodison Park after entering the final year of his deal with PSG.
Now, The Guardian claims that the Toffees are poised to welcome Gueye back to Merseyside, and he has already arrived back in the UK to undergo his medical with Frank Lampard's side.
Gueye has recorded seven goals and six assists in 111 games for PSG since 2019 and made the starting lineup on 18 occasions in Ligue 1 last season.
Finally, Rangers lynchpin Glen Kamara is said to have attracted interest from Serie A amid uncertainty over his future at Ibrox.
The former Arsenal youth product only signed a contract extension with the Gers until 2025 last year and has already made two appearances for Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side this season.
However, Rangers are supposedly open to a sale for a £10m fee, and according to 90Min, Salernitana have expressed an interest in signing Kamara.
The Italian outfit will have a fight on their hands to win the race for the 26-year-old, though, as Marseille, Brighton & Hove Albion, Eintracht Frankfurt, RB Leipzig and Nottingham Forest are also being tipped to swoop for the Finland international.
Kamara has won one Scottish Premiership crown and the Scottish Cup during his three-and-a-half years at Rangers, totalling eight goals and 10 assists in 160 outings for the club. body check tags ::
