Aaron Wan-Bissaka 'now likely to stay with Manchester United'

:Headline: Aaron Wan-Bissaka 'now likely to stay with Manchester United':
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is expected to stay with Manchester United this summer despite the widespread speculation surrounding his future, according to a report.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka's form for Manchester United in the second half of the 2022-23 campaign will reportedly see the defender stay at Old Trafford beyond the end of this summer's transfer window.

The 25-year-old hardly featured in the early months of this season, with Diogo Dalot firmly the first-choice right-back in Manchester, and Wan-Bissaka was widely expected to leave the club in January.

However, an injury that Dalot picked up while representing Portugal at the 2022 World Cup opened the door for Wan-Bissaka to enjoy a run in the side, and the Englishman took his opportunity.

The right-back has now made 32 appearances in all competitions this season, including starts in Man United's last four Premier League games, with Dalot either featuring at left-back or starting on the bench.

There remains widespread speculation surrounding Wan-Bissaka's future, with Crystal Palace said to be interested in re-signing him, while West Ham United continue to be credited with an interest.

However, according to the Manchester Evening News, Wan-Bissaka's form in the second half of this season is likely to lead to him remaining with the club this summer.

The report claims that Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag has been impressed with the Englishman's form this year and is now keen to keep him at Old Trafford.

Man United are still expected to move for a new right-back this summer, though, with Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong being heavily linked with a switch to the club.

Barcelona's Sergino Dest is also set to become available following a disappointing loan spell at AC Milan, and the United States international is thought to be of interest to Ten Hag.

Dalot's future has also been called into question, with the Portuguese's contract due to expire next summer, although he is ultimately extended to sign a new deal.

Raphael Varane's recent return to fitness means that Luke Shaw has switched to his usual left-back role, so Wan-Bissaka and Dalot are likely to go head-to-head for a starting role in the FA Cup final against Manchester City at the start of June.

Man United will trim their defence this summer, with Alex Telles and Eric Bailly, who are currently out on loan, expected to depart.

Phil Jones's departure has already been confirmed, while Axel Tuanzebe and Brandon Williams are set to move on ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.

Club captain Harry Maguire also continues to be linked with an exit, and the England international is widely expected to depart in the upcoming market in search of regular action. body check tags ::
