Cristiano Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes has claimed that it is "impossible" for any club to prise his client away from Real Madrid amid reports that Manchester United will pounce for the Ballon d'Or winner.
After the Red Devils sealed a 2-1 victory over Watford on Saturday, manager Louis van Gaal told reporters that he 'hopes' to sign Ronaldo.
The 30-year-old, who spent six years playing at United before joining Madrid in a then-world record £80m transfer in 2009, has been linked with a move away from the Bernabeu, and speculation was fuelled even further when his side suffered a 4-0 defeat to rivals Barcelona in Saturday's El Clasico.
However, Mendes has rubbished the transfer speculation by telling Canal+: "It is impossible. He will end his career at Real Madrid."
Ronaldo has scored 13 goals in all competitions for Madrid this season.
