The agent of Benfica's Nicolas Gaitan has claimed that Manchester United have made contact with the Portuguese club regarding a potential transfer.
Speculation has been linked with a move to Old Trafford over the last few weeks and it now appears that a switch is in the offing.
"I have not received any contact from United but there have been conversations between the two clubs," Gaitan's representative, Jose Irribaran, told Antena.
"If these talks progress, then we will get our time to speak.
"But Nico is very happy at Benfica and is looking forward to enjoying a successful season."
Gaitan joined Benfica last year from Argentinian side Boca Juniors.
