The agent of Newcastle United's Miguel Almiron has revealed that Manchester United and Arsenal previously held an interest in his client.
The Paraguay international has eight goals in 14 Premier League matches so far this season bringing recognition from supporters, the media and fellow top-flight clubs, and earning him a nomination for the October Premier League Player of the Month award.
A move to the likes of Everton, Fulham and Sevilla were rumoured in the summer transfer window, however the player's representative Daniel Campos has revealed there has also been interest from two of the biggest clubs in England.
"There was interest shown by Manchester United in Miguel but they never made an offer. Arsenal and Southampton offered loan deals for him but we did not want it to be a loan," Campos told ABC Cardinal.
The 28-year-old's contract at St James' Park expires in the summer of 2024, and whilst reports of contract discussions had been suggested recently, manager Eddie Howe dismissed that speculation.
"I've said every week how much I love and respect Miggy but I don't think any conversations have started between the club or his representatives. At the moment, we're in a busy spell of games. All conversations on contract and futures will take place at a later date," Howe recently told reporters.
Almiron has been in particularly prolific form recently, scoring seven goals in his last seven Premier League appearances. body check tags ::
