Ajax are reportedly interested in bringing Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek back to the club during this summer's transfer window.
The 25-year-old came through the youth system at Ajax and went on to represent their first team on 175 occasions before making the move to Old Trafford in 2020.
Van de Beek has featured on 60 occasions for the Red Devils in all competitions, but he has largely struggled to impress for the English giants, only contributing two goals and two assists.
The Netherlands international finished last season on loan at Everton before returning to Old Trafford to play under new Man United head coach Erik ten Hag.
Van de Beek has only made 10 appearances for the Red Devils this term, though, and he has been on the sidelines since the start of January due to a serious knee injury.
The midfielder will not play again this term, with his focus instead on returning to training during pre-season.
However, according to Football Insider, Ajax will attempt to re-sign the Dutchman during this summer's transfer window.
The report claims that Man United are preparing to overhaul their midfield this summer, with at least one player arriving in that area of the field, while Scott McTominay is currently being linked with an exit.
Van de Beek will also allegedly be available for transfer, having failed to make his mark for the Red Devils.
Ajax are thought to be the favourites for the Dutchman, although Inter Milan have also previously been credited with an interest in his services.
Van de Beek has another two years left to run on his deal at Old Trafford, with the option of a further 12 months, while his wages could be a problem for Ajax when it comes to a return.
The midfielder is believed to be on £120,000 a week at the club, which is significantly more than the Dutch champions would be able to offer him this summer.
Van de Beek had started to enjoy a run in the Man United side before his injury, featuring in four of the team's five league matches between November 11 and January 3.
The Red Devils will be bidding to bounce back from their 2-0 loss at Newcastle United when they welcome Brentford to Old Trafford in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
