Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that he does not know whether Marco Asensio will be leaving Bernabeu on a free transfer at the end of next month.

The 27-year-old has again been a regular for Los Blancos during the 2022-23 campaign, making 50 appearances in all competitions, contributing 12 goals and eight assists in the process.

Asensio's contract with the Spanish giants is due to expire at the end of June, though, and there is currently widespread speculation surrounding his future.

Real Madrid are believed to have offered the Spain international a new long-term contract.

However, there have been claims that he wants to leave in search of more regular action, as he is not considered to be a starter for the capital giants.

Paris Saint-Germain are thought to lead the race for the race for the attacker, while a number of Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester United, have previously been credited with an interest.

Asensio was not involved in Real Madrid's La Liga clash with Sevilla on Saturday due to injury, but Ancelotti was asked about his future during his post-match press conference.

The Italian said that he was unsure of the forward's next move at this moment in time but revealed that "everything will be cleared up" next week.

"On the subject of Asensio, I don't know what the situation is, just as I don't know about Nacho. Before the last game, everything will be cleared up," Ancelotti told reporters.

"On a personal level, I'm sad to see them go because they are very important. We'll prepare for next season depending on the decisions they make."

Nacho is also out of contract at the end of June, and there have been suggestions that the long-serving defender could seek pastures new as a free agent.

Real Madrid are also yet to announce new deals for Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, but the trio are widely expected to pen extensions until next June.

However, Mariano Diaz is set to depart on a free transfer, while there is huge uncertainty surrounding the future of Spanish midfielder Dani Ceballos.

Real Madrid are bidding to secure second position in the La Liga table ahead of Atletico Madrid, and Ancelotti's side will finish their 2022-23 campaign against Athletic Bilbao next weekend.
