Ander Herrera is close to reaching an agreement with Manchester United over a new contract, according to a report.
As things stand, the 29-year-old will become a free agent in four months' time when his existing deal expires.
United have been locked in talks with the representatives of the Spanish midfielder since last year, however, and the Daily Mail claims that negotiations are progressing well.
Herrera joined the Red Devils from Athletic Bilbao in a £29m transfer four-and-a-half years ago but he was strongly linked with the Old Trafford exit earlier this season.
Since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's arrival in mid-December, though, the ex-Athletic ace has become a regular alongside Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic in central midfield and he recently revealed that he intends to stay on beyond this season.
A number of United players are due to be out of contract in the summer, though an agreement is also believed to be close to being reached with Ashley Young.
