Andre Onana has confirmed that he is joining Manchester United from Inter Milan, with the Cameroonian goalkeeper set to undergo a medical with the Red Devils on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old boarded a plane from Milan to England on Tuesday evening, with the stopper on the verge of officially completing a move to the 20-time English champions.

Onana's deal is expected to be confirmed ahead of the club's pre-season tour of the United States, allowing him to potentially make his debut against Arsenal in New Jersey on Saturday.

"The important thing is to be honest and always tell people the truth. I am a person who always wants new challenges," the former Cameroon international told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"Playing in the Premier League and for a club like United is irresistible. All parties wanted this to happen. But what matters is that, even if I had stayed, I would have been equally happy because I never had any problems at Inter. Indeed, a magic was born in Milan that is almost difficult to explain.

"Thank you is the word I want to use. I say it to all the workers of Pinetina and of the company, to the managers, to the president, to the coach, to the comrades. But above all to the fans.

"I felt that they really loved me. I played in Milan for a year, but I'll be an Interista forever. Now I'll cheer in front of the TV. I wish Inter to win the Scudetto that we missed right away.

"I know how much everyone wants the second star, I hope the time has come to put it on their chests."

Onana also opened up on Inter's clash with Manchester City in the Champions League final, claiming that the Italian giants deserved to win the trophy.

"We were close to touching it, we deserved it. We played against City head-on, only details were missing, but this is football. Personally, I hope to win the Champions League with United, but I also hope that Inter replay a final and win it," he added.

"All the fans deserve it, both those who came to Istanbul who made us play as if we were at home, and those who pushed and will continue to push from outside.

"Being chosen to continue this tradition makes me proud and responsible: I want to win trophies with my new companions."

Onana will become Man United's new number one goalkeeper, replacing David de Gea, who has left the club on a free transfer this summer.

The former Ajax stopper is expected to sign a five-year contract with the 20-time English champions, with his move expected to be officially confirmed by both clubs over the next 24 hours. body check tags ::
