Arsenal are reportedly in pole position to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

The Serbia international has been linked with a move away from Lazio for several years, but he has remained with the Italian club, where he is under contract until June 2024.

Arsenal are one of a number of European sides that are interested in signing the 27-year-old with a recent report suggesting that they have made an enquiry about his availability.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Arsenal are now leading the race to sign Milinkovic-Savic, who could command a fee in the region of £50m.

Although the Gunners are believed to be at the front of the queue, it is currently unclear whether they will make an offer in January or wait until the summer transfer window.

Mikel Arteta's side will face competition for Milinkovic-Savic's signature, with Juventus, Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid all believed to be among his admirers.
