Arsenal and Newcastle United are reportedly among the latest Premier League clubs to enter the race for AC Milan centre-back Fikayo Tomori.

The 25-year-old, who came through the ranks at Chelsea, moved to San Siro on loan in January 2021 to gain regular first-team football before joining the Italian giants permanently the following summer.

Tomori has since developed into a key player for the Rossoneri and was a standout performer in their Scudetto title-winning season last year.

Milan are on the verge of handing over their Serie A title to Napoli this term, but Stefano Pioli's side have a Champions League semi-final with rivals Inter to look forward to later this month after eliminating the Parthenopeans in the quarter-finals.

Tomori has started in eight of Milan's 10 Champions League matches so far this season, while he has made a total of 100 appearances for the club in all competitions during his two-and-a-half-year spell in Italy.

Milan's No.23 is under contract at San Siro until the summer of 2027, but that has not stopped the rumour mill from linking the defender with a possible return to the Premier League.

A recent report claims that Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are both keepings tabs on Tomori, with the English top-flight duo believed to be in the market for a new central defender.

According to 90min, Arsenal and Newcastle are also interested in Tomori and both clubs were among many who sent scouts to watch the defender play in last Saturday's 1-1 Serie A draw with Roma.

Tomori was withdrawn at half time against Roma due to injury, and a yellow card picked up earlier in the contest means that he will serve a one-match suspension.

Representatives of Tomori's former club Chelsea are also said to have been in attendance at the Stadio Olimpico, while Liverpool scouts were not watching on from the stands but the Reds are understood to hold an interest in the Englishman.

Premier League title challengers Arsenal have suffered without the presence of injured centre-back William Saliba in recent weeks, with the Gunners failing to keep a clean sheet in each of their last seven matches.

Rob Holding has endured a difficult spell of form in Saliba's absence, while January signing Jakub Kiwior made his first Premier League start in the 3-1 win over Chelsea on Tuesday.

To cope with the demands of domestic football and the Champions League next season, Mikel Arteta may consider bolstering his squad with a new defender this summer, with Tomori one name on the club's radar.

Another club who could be competing in the Champions League next season are Newcastle, with Eddie Howe's side more likely to attract high-profile target should they finish in the top four of the Premier League.

The Magpies spent big to lure centre-back Sven Botman to St James' Park last summer, but with Jamaal Lascelles facing an uncertain future at the club, Howe's side could look to move for a new defender, such as Tomori, before the new season begins. body check tags ::
