Arsenal have reportedly opened talks with Gremio over a possible deal for Brazil international winger Everton Soares.
The 23-year-old was one of the standout performers for Brazil at this summer's Copa America, scoring three goals and creating one more to help the host nation to their first title since 2007.
Everton, whose sole assist saw him edge Paolo Guerrero to the Golden Boot, has since attracted the attention of a number of clubs, with Manchester City and Manchester United having also been linked.
Brazilian outlet GloboEsporte claims that newly-appointed Arsenal technical director Edu has earmarked Everton as a top transfer target this summer and is ready to battle their Premier League rivals for his signature.
The Gunners have reportedly held talks with the player's agent this week and are now considering a formal approach for the forward, who they view as an alternative to Wilfried Zaha.
Everton, who was named man of the match in the Copa America final, has three years remaining on his current contract at Gremio.
