Arsenal have reportedly not given up on persuading Ander Herrera to join them from Manchester United at the end of the season.
The Spanish midfielder is bracing himself for an Old Trafford exit this summer as talks over extending his contract, which is due to expire in July, have stalled.
Herrera is believed to have been offered a three-year deal on £145,000 a week to join Paris Saint-Germain, who are considered the favourites to sign him once he becomes a free agent.
Arsenal have also been regularly linked, though, and L'Equipe claims that United's top-flight rivals will make a late play to try to persuade the ex-Athletic Bilbao ace to join them instead.
An eleventh-hour offer is said to have been put together to keep the 29-year-old in the Premier League, which Arsenal hope will be enough.
The report also indicates that the Red Devils have not ruled out Herrera staying for another season or two, despite his recent comments to the press.
