Manchester United will have to pay around €40m (£34m) if they wish to sign Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier this summer, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Red Devils have allegedly identified the England international as the ideal player to both support and challenge current first-choice right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka next season.
According to Romano, Man United have already had an opening bid turned down for the 30-year-old, who played the full 90 minutes of England's Euro 2020 opener against Croatia on Sunday.
The Italian journalist claims that the La Liga champions have set an asking price of around €40m (£34m) and will not be reducing their valuation for a player who has impressed since arriving in the Spanish capital.
Trippier missed a chunk of last season due to a betting-related suspension, but he still made 28 La Liga appearances, providing six assists during a strong campaign.
The defender's existing deal at Wanda Metropolitano still has two years to run. body check tags ::
