Barcelona 'at front of queue to sign Manchester United's Jesse Lingard'

Barcelona are reportedly regarded as one of the frontrunners to sign Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard on a free transfer.

Barcelona have reportedly identified Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard as a priority transfer target for 2022.

As a result of their well-documented financial problems, Barcelona were heavily restricted during the summer window.

However, having negotiated pay-cuts with several members of the squad and continuing their bid to offload other players, there could be space for Barcelona to make additions at the end of the season.

According to the Daily Mail, the Catalan giants are interested in signing Lingard when his contract expires in June.

While United are keen to extend the England international's stay at Old Trafford, remaining down the pecking order will likely lead to the playmaker taking on a fresh challenge.

AC Milan are also said to be monitoring the situation ahead of formally opening talks with the 28-year-old in January.
