Barcelona could sign Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka before the end of the transfer window, according to a report.

Barcelona have reportedly identified Manchester United's Aaron Wan-Bissaka as a potential right-back target in the latter stages of the summer transfer window.

The Catalan outfit have been active during the summer market, bringing in Andreas Christensen, Franck Kessie, Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and Jules Kounde.

However, the club have not yet managed to bring in a new right-back despite being short in that area of the field, with Sergino Dest likely to depart before the deadline.

A recent report claimed that Man United could offer Diogo Dalot to Barcelona as part of a deal for Dest, with the United States international left out of the squad for Saturday's La Liga clash against Rayo Vallecano amid the speculation surrounding his future.

According to Spanish journalist Gerard Moreno, Dalot is an option for the Catalan side, but Wan-Bissaka has also been included on a five-man shortlist.

Moreno claims that Villarreal's Juan Foyth, Borussia Dortmund's Thomas Meunier and Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong are also being considered alongside the Man United duo.

Dalot became Man United's first-choice right-back in the second half of last season, and the Portugal international has also started the 2022-23 campaign as the number one choice on the right of the back four.

Wan-Bissaka has allegedly been told that he is free to leave Old Trafford before the end of the transfer window, with a number of clubs thought to have expressed an interest in taking him on loan.

The 24-year-old has represented the Red Devils on 126 occasions since arriving from Crystal Palace in 2019 but has largely found it difficult to make his mark for the club.

Man United are also currently short of options at right-back, though, with Ethan Laird being allowed to join Queens Park Rangers on loan for the 2022-23 campaign.

Ronald Araujo started at right-back for Barcelona in Saturday's La Liga opener with Rayo, while Sergi Roberto is also an option in that area of the field.

New signings Christensen and Kounde are also capable of playing on the right of the defence, but Barcelona boss Xavi is determined to sign a new right-sided defender, with a deal for Chelsea's Cesar Azpilicueta falling through.

Barcelona also continue to be linked with Chelsea's Marcos Alonso and Manchester City's Bernardo Silva, with Frenkie de Jong, Memphis Depay and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang potentially leaving before the end of the window.

A departure for either Wan-Bissaka or Dalot would lead to Man United signing another right-back, and Inter Milan's Denzel Dumfries has recently been linked with a move to the club. body check tags ::
