Borussia Dortmund have reportedly reignited their interest in signing Manchester United attacker Anthony Elanga after a failed January approach.
The 21-year-old struggled to make his mark during Erik ten Hag's debut season, registering zero goals and just two assists from 26 matches across all tournaments.
Elanga was restricted to just five starts in the Premier League and one in the Europa League, with the form of Marcus Rashford on the left flank forcing him to accept a peripheral role.
Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho all find themselves above Elanga in the pecking order too, and the Sweden international was left out of the squad entirely for 10 of Man United's final 13 Premier League games last season.
During his breakthrough season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick last term, Elanga penned a new long-term contract at Old Trafford, which does not expire until the summer of 2026.
However, having failed to get into Ten Hag's good books over the past 12 months, Elanga could be tempted to seek pastures new in search of regular game time elsewhere.
According to the Daily Mail, Dortmund have rekindled their interest in a deal for the 21-year-old, whom they tried and failed to poach over the winter alongside Everton.
The report adds that Man United would be open to bids for Elanga as they try to fund their own summer business, and a fee of just £10m could be enough to prise the attacker away from the Theatre of Dreams.
However, Dortmund may face competition from RB Leipzig to bring Elanga to the Bundesliga, after the Sweden international's compatriot Emil Forsberg apparently begged Die Roten Bullen to make a move for the attacker.
Elanga admitted back in March that he was growing frustrated with his lack of minutes at Man United, having also been left out of the squad for the EFL Cup final before being an unused substitute in the FA Cup final.
Elanga left Malmo's youth system to join Man United in 2015, and the Scandinavian winger has now represented the senior team on 55 occasions, scoring four goals and setting up four more.
The 21-year-old is not the only Red Devils youngster on Dortmund's radar, as Edin Terzic's side are also rumoured to be weighing up an approach for Tunisian midfielder Hannibal Mejbri.
Mejbri enjoyed a productive time on loan with Birmingham City last season, but it is unclear if he is in Ten Hag's long-term plans and could also be offloaded if he fails to impress in pre-season.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils have already confirmed that Zidane Iqbal will leave the club this summer, as the 20-year-old prepares to join Dutch outfit FC Utrecht on a permanent deal. body check tags ::
