Bruno Fernandes is reportedly demanding a new and improved contract at Manchester United in order to commit his future to the club.

The Portugal international has again been in impressive form for the Red Devils during the 2023-24 campaign, scoring 15 goals and registering 12 assists in 46 appearances in all competitions.

Fernandes has another two years left to run on his contract at Old Trafford, with the option of a further 12 months, but there is currently a host of speculation surrounding his future.

Bayern Munich are believed to be interested in the playmaker, while there have also been suggestions that a number of Saudi Pro League clubs are hoping to sign him.

However, a recent report claimed that Man United are not interested in selling the 29-year-old, who also allegedly agreed to stay during a meeting with club chiefs.

Fernandes 'wants lucrative new contract at Man United'

According to the Daily Star, Man United could be forced to offer Fernandes a lucrative new deal in order to convince him to remain at Old Trafford.

The report claims that Fernandes wants to be one of the best-paid players at the club, with Marcus Rashford, Raphael Varane and Casemiro currently on more than him.

Varane is leaving on a free transfer at the end of June, though, and Casemiro is also being heavily linked with a move away during the summer market.

Fernandes will allegedly hold talks with Man United over a potential new deal at the end of the season, before he heads off to Germany to represent his country at Euro 2024.

Fernandes has expressed a desire to stay at Old Trafford

The attacker made his return from injury against Newcastle United on Wednesday evening and played a key role in his side recording a 3-2 victory over the Magpies.

After the clash, Fernandes insisted that he will remain at Man United for as long as the club want him.

"I will be here until when the club wants me and the club wants me to be a part of the future," he told Sky Sports News. "If for some reason they don't want me, then I will go."

Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag then insisted during his pre-match press conference that Man United are determined to keep hold of their captain.

Fernandes made the move to Old Trafford from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, and he has represented the club on 231 occasions in all competitions, scoring 79 goals and registering 65 assists in the process. body check tags ::
