The mother of Edinson Cavani has claimed that her son favours a move to Spain this summer as the striker prepares to leave Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.
Cavani's current deal in Paris will expire at the end of June, and a number of clubs - including Manchester United and Chelsea - are believed to be interested in the 33-year-old.
However, according to the forward's mother, the Uruguay international "would like to go to Spain".
"Fortunately there are many clubs interested in my son," Berta Gomez told Ovacion Digital. "He still does not know what he will do, as he has three months left in Paris. He has no intention of returning to Uruguay, and wants to remain in Europe. He would like to go to Spain."
Atletico Madrid were strongly linked with the South American during the January transfer window and are still believed to hold an interest ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.
Cavani is PSG's all-time leading goalscorer with 200 in 301 appearances in all competitions, including seven strikes in 22 outings during the 2019-20 season.
