David de Gea has been announced as Manchester United’s new goalkeeper today.
The player, who joins from Atletico Madrid, has signed a five-year contract under a deal thought to be worth around £18m.
The 20-year-old will serve as a replacement for former veteran shotstopper Edwin van der Sar, who retired at the end of last season.
The Spanish Under-21s player’s acquisition marks Sir Alex Ferguson’s third signing of the summer, following Blackburn’s Phil Jones and Aston Villa’s Ashley Young.
