Louis van Gaal has suggested that Angel di Maria could leave Manchester United in the summer, after commenting that the Argentine will decide what he wants to do.
Van Gaal has indicated that Di Maria has been disappointing this season, casting doubt over his future at Old Trafford.
The Dutchman is also keen to keep the attacker, but admits that the decision will ultimately be left to the player.
"The manager and the club is always dependable on the opinion of the player himself. The player decides; we shall see what he decides," the Dutchman told reporters.
"The decision is not only to him because now we have a contract so we shall speak always with every player, evaluation, as I always do. Then we speak with each other about the future and that is with every player.
"I am pleased with his attitude, so that is not a problem. I think Di Maria shall stay and he is working very hard."
Di Maria has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
