Chido Obi Martin future: 32-goal wonderkid 'completes Man United transfer'

Manchester United have allegedly now completed the signing of 16-year-old forward Chido Obi Martin, who left Arsenal over the summer.

Manchester United have reportedly now completed the signing of Chido Obi Martin, with an announcement from the 20-time English champions regarding the deal believed to be imminent.

Obi Martin decided against signing a new contract with Arsenal over the summer and instead departed in search of pastures new, which sparked a scramble for his services.

Despite lucrative interest from elsewhere, Man United convinced the 16-year-old to join them, but a deal has not been made official, as it has been subject to the Premier League's five-step investigation, which occurs when a player switches between two Category One academies.

Denmark Under-18s head coach Morten Eskesen recently said that Obi Martin "doesn't have a club", adding confusion to the situation, while journalist Christopher Michel said on X: "Although Chido Obi Martin's contract at Arsenal has expired, I heard that MUFC can't just sign him on a free transfer.

"Very complicated. He is therefore only training individually and has not yet been presented. Possibly this will go before a court."

Man United 'finally complete Obi Martin deal'

However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, a deal for the youngster has now been completed, with Man United receiving Premier League approval.

Romano claims that the striker has already undergone his medical and signed a contract with the 20-time English champions, so he can now be regarded as a Red Devils player.

Academy Scoop added on X: "Contracts will be signed in due course, officially rendering the young Dane a Manchester United player.

"Having missed a large portion of pre-season preparations, Obi-Martin will be given the appropriate time to reach full fitness levels and acclimate to his new environment."

Why is Obi Martin so highly rated?

Obi Martin scored 32 goals and registered three assists in 18 appearances for Arsenal Under-18s last season, including 28 goals in his last nine games of last season.

The forward also hit the headlines last November when he scored 10 times in a single match for Arsenal Under-16s against Liverpool Under-16s, another indication of his immense potential.

Obi Martin scored five against West Ham United and seven against Norwich City at Under-18s level towards the end of last season, and he also played twice for Arsenal Under-21s in Premier League 2.

The forward trained with Arsenal's first team last season, meanwhile, and it has been suggested that he will be a part of the senior squad at Old Trafford once he has settled into life at the club.

Indeed, Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag is said to view Obi Martin as the club's third-choice striker behind Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, so he could make his debut for Man United before the end of the season. body check tags ::
