Liverpool have reportedly entered negotiations with the agent of Radamel Falcao after Manchester United pulled out of the race to sign him on a permanent basis.
The Colombian has struggled for goals since moving to Old Trafford on loan from Monaco last summer, scoring just four times for the Red Devils.
According to The Express, United have informed Monaco that they will not be exercising the option to buy Falcao at the end of this campaign.
It is thought that agent Jorge Mendes has been in talks with Liverpool, trying to persuade Brendan Rodgers to move for the ex-Atletico Madrid frontman.
However, the Reds could face competition from the likes of Chelsea, who have also been linked with a move for the star.
Liverpool may look to refresh their forward line, with Rickie Lambert, Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini tipped to leave Anfield at the end of this season.
