Manchester United have reportedly received a €15m (£12.9m) offer from Fenerbahce for midfielder Fred.
The 30-year-old has spent the last five years at Old Trafford since joining from Shakhtar Donetsk for a fee rising to around £60m, scoring 14 goals and providing 19 assists in 213 appearances across all competitions.
Only Bruno Fernandes (59) and David de Gea (58) made more first-team appearances for the Red Devils than Fred (56) last season, although the Brazil international was not a regular starter under manager Erik ten Hag.
Indeed, Fred started just 12 Premier League games in 2022-23 and found himself behind the likes of Fernandes, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay in the pecking order.
Fred has now entered the final year of his contract on the red side of Manchester and the midfielder has been tipped to seek pastures new amid interest from a number of European clubs.
Turkish giants Fenerbahce have emerged as one of the leading clubs in the race to sign Fred, and journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that they have tabled an official offer of €15m (£12.9m) including add-ons for the Brazilian.
Romano adds that negotiations between both clubs are ongoing, with Fenerbahce keen to make quick progress in their pursuit of the midfielder.
It is thought that Fenerbahce's offer has fallen short of Man United's £20m valuation of Fred, and the opening offer could therefore be turned down by the Red Devils.
Fenerbahce could face competition for Fred's signature from both Galatasaray and Fulham, and the Daily Mail reports that the latter have revived talks to sign the midfielder.
United are believed to be open to cashing in on Fred as the club look to balance their books following the big-money arrivals of Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund earlier this summer.
Ten Hag is keen to strengthen his squad further but departures must be made to generate funds, with the Dutchman allegedly keen to part ways with as many as six more players this summer.
Man United are in the market for a new deep-lying midfielder and are said to have identified Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat as one of their top targets.
The potential arrival of Amrabat could allow Fred to leave Old Trafford, while fellow midfielder McTominay has also been tipped to depart amid interest from West Ham United, who have also reached an agreement in principle to sign Man United centre-back Harry Maguire.
Donny van de Beek, who has attracted interest from Real Sociedad, could also be heading for the exit door, while Nottingham Forest-linked Dean Henderson is expected to move on this summer. body check tags ::
