Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur target Bruno Fernandes has signed a new long-term contract with Sporting Lisbon.
The midfielder attracted the attention of several clubs over the summer following a 2018-19 season during which he scored 20 goals and claimed 13 assists.
It is claimed that Spurs agreed personal terms with Fernandes over the summer as they looked for a replacement to Christian Eriksen, but no move materialised.
Speaking on Sporting's official website after the new deal was announced, the Portuguese said: "It's a pride for me and a recognition of my work; it's a sign that I'm doing things well.
"I have been trying my best to do what is best for the club. It is for what I did on the pitch, but also showed that I liked Sporting CP and took pride in representing the club I represent.
"For me it is, and always will be, a privilege to be here and be able to wear the Sporting CP jersey."
United were also interested in Fernandes, sending scouts to watch him on several occasions, but opted against making a bid for the player.
