Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Moroccan defender Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich, with the 26-year-old following Matthijs de Ligt from the Allianz Arena to Old Trafford.
On Tuesday evening, the Red Devils revealed that they had completed a deal for De Ligt, with the Netherlands international becoming the club's third signing of the summer transfer market.
Shortly after, another club announcement arrived, with a move for Mazraoui being confirmed.
The right-back, who has penned a deal until June 2028, also underwent a medical with Man United at the start of this week, and he has joined as a replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has made the move to West Ham United.
The 20-time English champions have paid an initial €15m (£12.8m) for the Morocco international, although the deal could eventually rise to €20m (£17.1m) once various add-ons have been taken into account.
Man United announce Mazraoui arrival from Bayern
"It's an incredible feeling to be a Manchester United player, and I cannot wait to walk out at Old Trafford wearing the red shirt," the defender told the club's official website.
"I know that I'm joining the club at an exciting time; everyone I've spoken to has the same ambition for us to win trophies together and I can feel the determination to achieve that.
"Erik ten Hag played an important part in my development as a player, so it is exciting to be reuniting with him as I enter the prime years of my career. I know what he expects from his players, and I will give everything to help the group be successful."
Meanwhile, Man United's sporting director Dan Ashworth added: "Noussair is a dynamic, attacking full-back who can play on both the right and left side of defence. His experience and versatility will make him an excellent addition to our squad.
"Having already won a number of trophies in his career, we know that Noussair's winning mentality will be a real asset to the group as we work together to deliver the success required of Manchester United."
When could Mazraoui make his Man United debut?
Mazraoui will be able to face Fulham on Friday evening, and it is possible that he could be introduced straight into the side despite his lack of football in recent months.
Indeed, Man United announced on Tuesday evening that Luke Shaw would be absent in the early stages of the 2024-25 campaign due to a calf problem which he picked up at the start of pre-season.
Shaw struggled for action last term due to a number of muscular issues, but he was able to feature in the latter stages of Euro 2024, having been named in the England squad by Gareth Southgate.
With Tyrell Malacia also out, Diogo Dalot could be needed to play at left-back in the early stages of the campaign, with Mazraoui potentially earning an immediate run of starts down the right, although it is possible that the new signing could also be called upon down the left.
Mazraoui, who played under Red Devils head coach Ten Hag at Ajax, featured on 29 occasions for Bayern last season, while he has made 55 appearances for the Munich giants over the last two campaigns. body check tags ::
