The father of Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has hinted that a switch to Manchester United is not of interest to the Dutchman.
Given the Blaugrana's long-running financial problems and elimination from the Champions League, the Catalan club are thought to be open to selling De Jong in 2022.
However, Xavi has rubbished talk of an exit for the former Ajax starlet, and the midfielder's father John de Jong has claimed that the Manchester weather does not make a move to Old Trafford all that appealing.
Speaking to Algemeen Dagblad, the 24-year-old's father said: "It's often bad weather there. Of course it's about football, but it does matter.
"Of course, I know that Barcelona needs money and a great offer for Frenkie could help, but I don't see it happening anytime soon. Although, five top European clubs have all called."
De Jong boasts 10 goals and 14 assists in 112 games for Barcelona since arriving in 2019, and his contract with the Blaugrana does not expire until 2026.
