Galatasaray are reportedly interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele after failing to reach an agreement with Manchester United for Fred.
The 26-year-old has spent the last two seasons on loan away from North London, joining Lyon for the 2021-22 term and playing in Italy at Napoli in the 2022-23 campaign.
Ndombele featured in 30 Serie A matches as the Partenopei won their first Italian league crown this century, however he did only start eight of those matches, meaning that he was largely restricted to minutes off the bench.
A last call-up for the France national team arrived for the midfielder in May 2021, meaning that the player has missed out on both the European Championships in 2021 and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
According to the Daily Mail, Ndombele could be set for a move to the Turkish Super Lig, with Galatasaray keen on bolstering their midfield ranks with the enforcer.
It is understood that the Lilywhites and the Turkish giants remain in discussion over a potential move for the Frenchman, with new Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou prepared to allow the midfielder to move on.
Galatasaray's interest in Ndombele comes in light of their pursuit of Manchester United's Fred taking a major blow earlier in this summer's transfer window.
Okan Buruk's men reportedly had an undisclosed bid for the Brazilian turned down last month, although they are still hopeful of being able to lure their primary midfield target to the club.
The 30-year-old is entering the final year of his contract at Old Trafford, and Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag is said to be willing to offload the player this summer.
With the arrival of Mason Mount from Chelsea earlier in the window, United have a depth of options in the middle of the park, meaning that Fred's game time could be very limited if he were to stay put in Manchester.
It is believed that Man United are looking to pocket around £20m for the former Shakhtar Donetsk man who arrived to the Premier League for a mouth-watering £55m in June 2018.
As for Ndombele, the 26-year-old has not featured at all for Spurs during their pre-season schedule, suggesting that he is not in Postecoglou's thinking ahead of the new campaign.
Since joining from Lyon in July 2019 for £50m, the seven-time international has turned out on 91 occasions for the North Londoners, scoring 10 goals over three seasons.
Spurs face Shakhtar Donetsk and Barcelona in their final pre-season friendlies before the season truly commences with a trip to Brentford in the Premier League on August 13. body check tags ::
