Los Angeles Galaxy president Chris Klein confirms that the club retain an interest in signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but expects the striker to remain in Europe for now.

Los Angeles Galaxy president Chris Klein has revealed that the club still hold an interest in signing free agent Zlatan Ibrahimovic once he returns from his long-term injury layoff.

The Major League Soccer side have previously remained coy when questioned about the future of the 35-year-old, who has been left without a club since departing Manchester United at the end of last season.

Ibrahimovic has been offered a potential lifeline by the Red Devils, though, as boss Jose Mourinho hinted earlier this month that the ex-Sweden international could be offered a new deal upon making a comeback from his cruciate knee ligament injury.

Galaxy are not ruling themselves out of the race just yet, however, with Klein happy to 'leave the door open' for a future switch if Ibrahimovic opts to depart European football.

"We have an incredible relationship with Zlatan and his agent," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "He loves our club, and he loves LA. We have an interest in him. I think, for now, he wants to stay in Europe.

"Our doors are open for a player like that. We have rights to him in our league. We'll see where that goes."

Ibrahimovic scored 28 goals in 46 appearances for Man United prior to picking up his injury problem in April.
