Mason Greenwood has said that he is "happy" at Getafe and has thanked the Spanish club's fans for their support since his arrival on loan from Manchester United last summer.
Having been informed that he had no future at Old Trafford, the forward was sent on loan to Getafe for the 2023-24 campaign, and he has impressed for the capital side this term, scoring five goals and registering four assists in 17 appearances in all competitions.
As it stands, Greenwood will return to Man United this summer, and he has another 18 months left to run on his contract with the 20-time English champions.
There have been suggestions that the 22-year-old could still have a future at Old Trafford, but it is widely thought that he will leave the Red Devils on a permanent basis at the end of the campaign.
Getafe are keen to sign him on a permanent basis, but Real Madrid and Barcelona are also said to be interested, which would make a permanent deal for his current loan club incredibly difficult.
Greenwood has scored three goals and registered four assists in 15 La Liga outings for Getafe this term, and the Englishman has expressed his happiness with Jose Bordalas's side.
"Everything's fine. I adapted pretty quickly. Teammates took me under their wing and I've just been happy ever since, coming here and training, playing the games. I'm happy," Greenwood told Getafe's official media.
"The fans mean a lot to me. The best feeling so far is when I scored my first goal here at the stadium and it meant a lot to me, I heard the fans quite a lot.
"Also we had the training day and a lot of fans came out to watch so we always appreciate the fans. They're like an extra man out there on the pitch when they're out there supporting us."
A recent report claimed that Barcelona are willing to offer Greenwood the club's famous number 10 shirt as part of a £40m move for him this summer.
Greenwood has scored 35 goals and registered 12 assists in his 29 appearances for Man United in all competitions, but he has not featured for the club since January 2022.
Almost two years ago, following accusations from a woman, the forward was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault, and he was then further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.
The forward was also facing charges of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, but there is no longer a case against him, with all charges being dropped, allowing him to resume his career during the 2023-24 campaign. body check tags ::
