Paul Ince believes that his former club Manchester United should make an audacious swoop to sign Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero this summer.
The Argentine's future is currently in doubt with his contract expiring at the end of this season and his representatives have yet to negotiate terms over a new deal.
Former Red Devils midfielder Ince is an admirer of Aguero and has claimed that signing the 32-year-old could have a similar impact to that of Eric Cantona, who arrived at Old Trafford from fierce rivals Leeds United in 1992.
"It's not as if Harry Kane and Erling Braut Haaland are the only two answers for Man United. Sergio Aguero might be leaving Man City, why shouldn't United make a move for him?" Ince said in an interview with Ladbrokes.
"You've got to ask the question if you're United, because you never know. It happened with us back in 1992 when Howard Wilkinson was asking Sir Alex Ferguson about Denis Irwin. Fergie said there'd be no chance of that happening and suggested Leeds sold Cantona to them and within a couple of days that deal was done.
"It was just Fergie throwing a name out there and taking a chance, trying his luck. Maybe that's what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should do with Aguero this summer."
Since signing from Atletico Madrid in July 2011, Aguero has scored 257 goals for City and is the club's all-time record goalscorer. body check tags ::
